K+S Potash Canada’s Legacy Project Mine Site

K+S Administration & Operations Buildings

The K+S Legacy Project is the first new Greenfield potash mine built in Saskatchewan in nearly 40 years. Located near the communities of Bethune and Findlater in the RM of Dufferin it is home to a new solution mine and production facility.

The Maintenance and Administration Buildings were developed and ultimately constructed using the Design Build model. Alliance Energy teamed with EllisDon for design and pursuit of these two unique buildings. Design included multiple consultation meetings with Amec-Foster Wheeler, who was responsible for design & project management of the Legacy Project, and the end user, K+S Potash Canada, to develop spaces and buildings that suited the environment which the buildings operates in and the activities, optimal flow of staff/visitors to site and efficiency in daily operations and maintenance.

A variety of spaces were constructed within these buildings including locker rooms, ambulance & fire truck bays, lunch rooms, office & conference rooms, site wide control room, field operations and maintenance bays. Total building footprint is approximately 130,000 square feet.

Electrical construction started in late 2014 with a peak crew size of approximately 50 workers. Substantial completion was achieved in the 1st quarter of 2016.
